Differentiators

Whilst our business orientation makes us want to create and capture business value, our societal purpose is to create a safer world. We imagine COM-SUR saving a child at school from being abused, or that a terror attack at a place of worship was thwarted because the potential perpetrator was caught recceing by a COM-SUR audit of the CCTV footage.

National Service: COM-SUR is being made available to the entire Indian Police, Paramilitary, and Defence Forces for free. MoU signed with the Indian Police Foundation, a policing think tank to spearhead. Some conditions apply.

Societal Purpose: COM-SUR is being made available for free world-over to

  1. All places of Worship
  2. All low-budget government schools
  3. All Zoos

Solution

Problem (1) Too much information. Too little action - While there is a distinct need for the customer to quickly ‘see’ what the cameras ‘saw’ (think about what everyone does after shooting photos on their mobile phones; everyone swipes their screens as many times) as an SOP, there is no easy mechanism to do so. Video analytics, AI/ML/DL come with their own challenges (IBM thinks so too), are expensive, used by very few people, and cannot discover many issues - recces for example.

Solution (1) Augmented intelligence (A.I.+H.I.) is the way forward! - COM-SUR empowers users to audit an entire days’ CCTV video footage in minutes (collaboratively if needed, using services like MS Teams, Zoom, etc.). This helps users to discover the 'unknown' (users have best situational awareness); allowing for quicker corrective/preventive action, prevent crime, fraud, losses, solve crime faster, discover non-compliance, health and safety issues, improve ops. efficiency etc. Images created by COM-SUR become relevant training data for AI/ML/DL models.

Problem (2) Data size and stolen, destroyed, failed, tampered recorders - Video requires large storage capacities leading to data being overwritten, and loss of important information. Also, if the recorder is stolen, destroyed, fails, or is tampered with, the evidence is lost.

Solution (2) Giga vs Tera difference, and use of the cloud - Our solution hugely reduces data size (TB to GB), and pushes it to the user's cloud; so, data is easily retrieved, even if the recorder is gone! COM-SUR sits as a 'stack' over any live or recorded video feed displaying multiple cameras and converts it into images by capturing the 'moment' of that 'one second' (combination of 25 frames).

Problem (3) Non-standard and inadequate reports - World-over, any incident report (the first step towards action) needs to answer the 5Ws +1H, i.e., ‘what, when, where, why, who, how’.

Solution (3) As easy as MS Office - In a few clicks, COM-SUR effortlessly creates a video depicting the incident and embeds it in a .pptx template; even if the recorder is stolen, fails, or is tampered with. COM-SUR’s reports deliver B.I.

Features

  1. Ability to capture screenshots of live or recorded video in the ‘background’, thereby converting video into images which (i) Reduces the 'amount' of video to be investigated. (ii) Hugely reduces the size of the data (iii) Creates a very cost-effective disaster recovery backup.
  2. Ability to audit (review) hours of CCTV video footage in minutes, easily and efficiently through various flexible playback mechanisms.
  3. Ability to use ‘false’ colors, as well as improve the quality of the screenshots/images for the purpose of forensics and investigation.
  4. Ability to take several logical ‘next steps’ once an item of  interest/exception is found during the auditing activity. These include creation of a video, audit finding/incident report, sharing via e-mail, Skype, WhatsApp, and so on.
  5. Ability to gain business intelligence from the audit finding/incident reports.
  6. Ability to search for screenshots/images by a desired time and date range or slot, as well as tagged screenshots/images.
  7. Ability to audit (review) frames extracted from multiple videos by playing back the same in a time-synced manner. This is a killer feature for an investigator.

For the police, COM-SUR offers exceptional value at any location - police stations (for forensics and investigations), command centres, and prisons. It can play multiple pre-recorded videos gathered from a scene of crime in a dashboard view, helping them join the dots much faster. Our MoU with the Rashtriya Raksha University to offer CCTV video footage auditor and investigation courses will make COM-SUR a must-have for all, since the courses are built around COM-SUR.
